Two local businesses team up to offer virtual fitness and travel experience across Canada

Bradford businesses eLifestyle Fitness and Pear Tree Tours have teamed up to provide a unique travel and fitness experience across Canada

Bradford businesses eLifestyle Fitness and Pear Tree Tours have teamed up to provide a unique travel experience across Canada, all while breaking a sweat at the same time.

"We have combined virtual fitness and virtual travel and created: The Great Canadian Fitness Challenge," says Leah Armstrong of eLifestyle Fitness, who runs the fitness and personal training company with her husband Robb.

The four-week challenge will have participants experience a trail from all 13 provinces and territories through walking, hiking, biking or running at home or outside.

New locations are unlocked each week with virtual tours of popular Canadian trails, and a little history lesson on each.

The program is geared for all fitness levels and can be done individually or together as a family.

The group of Bradford business owners have been working on the project since August.

Pamela Pereira, travel agent with Pear Tree Tours, is excited at the opportunity to collaborate with the Armstrongs. Her industry has been hit hard by the pandemic and is looking forward to the day when she can travel again.

"I decided to get involved because it really brought my passions of travel and fitness together," she said.

For the project, Pereira researched the different locations on the tour.

"Leah and Robb are amazing people. When they approached me about featuring different areas of Canada and creating the great Canadian Fitness Challenge, I was in."

Robb created the videos to go with the program, which can be watched on a phone or computer.

"Maybe it will get people to think of Canada as a travel destination in the future. We live in such a beautiful country, it is time to explore it," said Pereira.
