Simcoe County District School Board has reported one new case in its latest update. There's one new case at Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School, which is the second case reported at the Angus school.

There are nine active cases reported by the Simcoe County District School Board. The cases are spread across seven schools.

In addition to the new cases reported today, the current active cases in Simcoe County District School Board schools include:

  • One case at Emma King Public School (Barrie), one classroom is closed
  • One at Fieldfrest Elementary School (Bradford), one classroom is closed
  • One at Admiral Collingwood Elementary School,
  • Two at Alliston Union Public School, and two classrooms are closed.
  • One at East Oro Public School,

Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board reported one case at St. James Catholic School, for a total of 13 active cases spread across seven schools.

In addition to the new case reported today, the current active cases in Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board schools include:

  • Two cases at St. Bernadette Catholic School (Barrie), and two classrooms are closed,

There are no new local cases in the French public school board. Conseil scolaire Viamonde, reported one student case in the region at Roméo-Dallaire High School in Barrie on Sept. 13.

COVID case counts are also unchanged locally in the French Catholic board. Mon Avenir Conseil Scolaire Catholique, reported one staff case Sept. 10 at ÉÉC Marguerite-Bourgeois, which is located in Borden.

School boards are required to post regular, public updates on COVID cases linked to their schools. A case in a school does not automatically indicate that person caught COVID-19 at the school.

Anyone who was in close contact with the infected person will be notified by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

Not all school boards specify whether a case is a student or staff member.

According to reporting by the provincial government, there have been 486 school-related COVID-19 cases since in-person class resumed this month. Of those 390 cases are students, 66 are school-related staff, and 20 are not specified. The cases are spread across 299 schools.

The province reported 242 cases of COVId-19 in childcare centres and home daycares over the last 14 days. The cases are spread across 113 centres, and there are 12 daycare centres closed.

One child case case was identified at Hewitt's Creek Children's Academy in Barrie, one child case at Saint Gabirel YMCA Child Care in Barrie, and one staff case at Wellington Street Day Care.
