Newmarket Winterfest includes a Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. in the Community Centre & Lions Hall for a nominal fee, free activities at Riverwalk Commons from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Winterfest continues on Feb. 16 with free skating at the Ray Twinney Complex, from 12 to 2 p.m. and free Public Swimming, 2-4 p.m.

50th annual Allandale Model Train Show, Feb. 15 and 16 at Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery, 4346 Hwy. 90 near Barrie. Vendors, displays, layouts and much more. All ages show. Admission $7, only $5 for students and seniors, free for accompanied children under 6.

Winter Family Funfest

Bradford Community Church hosts a Winter Family Funfest at the Portuguese Cultural Centre in Bradford, Feb. 17 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. with free games, prizes, food, cotton candy, popcorn, hot chocolate and more. Followed at 6 p.m. by a concert featuring Manic Drive. Tickets in advance at Eventbrite.ca; at the door, recommended donation is $5. All welcome.

The BWG Leisure Centre hosts a full day of family activities in the pool, rink and gym, 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Family Day, Feb. 17. Check the schedule for details. Free events include free skating from 9:40-11:20 a.m. and free family yoga from 11:15 a.m. to noon.

The Innisfil Historical Society celebrates both Family Day and the Bicentennial of Innisfil with a special afternoon of activities at the Knock Schoolhouse heritage site, Line 9 and 10 Sideroad in Innisfil, 1 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 17. Try your hand at pioneer skills and crafts, play old-fashioned games. All welcomed. Free.

The Tecumseth & West Gwillimbury Historical Society presents Governor General Award-winning author, Dr. Karolyn Smardz Frost, presenting her new book of stories of the survivors of slavery – 7 p.m. on Feb. 17 at the Tec-We-Gwill WI Hall in Newton Robinson. Black History Month event includes a book signing and refreshments. Free for Historical Society members, $5 for guests at the door.
