Looking for something to do this weekend?

Celebrate local businesses, eat some locally-made potato chips, try stand-up paddleboarding, or go for a run. There is lots to do in Bradford West Gwillimbury and area.

FRIDAY, JUNE 15

Bradford Print Shoppe 35th anniversary barbecue and auction

12-3 p.m.

170 Artesian Industrial Pkwy.

Barbecue, live music and a silent auction raising funds for the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County.

Innisfil Ribfest

Event runs June 15-17

Friday 5 p.m. to midnight, Saturday 12 p.m. to midnight, and Sunday 12-6 p.m.

Innisfil Recreation Complex, 7315 Yonge St., Innisfil

A rib and music fest organized by Innisfil Community Events Corporation and the Ontario Festival Group.

Five top rib teams, plus festival food, beer tent, midway and carnival games.

Admission is $3. Children 12 and under are free. Admission includes free concerts, including tributes to Blue Rodeo, Bon Jovi, Bob Marley, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and more.

Sunday features a classic car show, and Destiny Wrestling.

SATURDAY, JUNE 16

BioBlitz

7 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

Rogers Reservoir Conservation Area, 2nd Concession Rd., East Gwillimbury 

Free parking and sign in at Holland Landing Public School, 16 Holland River Blvd., Holland Landing 

Families and citizen scientists are invited to enjoy daytime expert-guided wetland hikes, electrofishing demonstrations, children's activities, a night hike, and much more. 

Schedule of events includes: 7 a.m. birding hike; 9 a.m. opening remarks and wetlands hike with Ducks Unlimited; 10 a.m. kids drop-in activities; 11 a.m. electrofishing and aquatic insects demonstration; 12 p.m. lunch; 1 p.m. bees and beyond hike with Erika Nardone; 3 p.m. grasslands and species at risk hike with Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry; 5 p.m. barbecue dinner; and 9 p.m. nighttime hike.

Kids’ Run for Nature

8-11 a.m.

Scanlon Creek Conservation Area, 2450 9th Line, Bradford

Registration opens at 8 a.m., and running begins at 9 a.m.

This World Wildlife Fund Canada event is a one-, three- and five-kilometre fun run that gives kids the chance to get active in nature and raise funds for the conservation of the wildlife.
The Kids' Run for Nature is coming to parks all across Canada. It is a national movement driven by kids and families who are taking action for nature.

Garage sale benefiting Procyon Wildlife

100 per cent of funds raised will go back to Beeton wildlife rehabilitation centre.

Alliston Farmers’ Market

8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Main Street, Alliston

Find warm, out of the oven baked goodies, jams, jellies, honey, syrups, crafts, plants, local potato chips, meats, fruits and veggies, all from local farmers. 

Bradford Farmers’ Market

8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Every Saturday until Oct. 6.

Enjoy live music, meet local community groups, and find produce from the Holland Marsh and beyond, including plants, flowers, herbs, honey, dairy products, maple syrup, cured meats, free-run eggs, baking, preserves, and a variety of fruits and vegetables, plus handmade arts and crafts.

Barrie Power and Sail Squadron flare disposal day

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lefroy Harbour Resorts Marina, 727 Harbour St., Innisfil

If your boat’s flares have a manufacture date of 2014 or earlier, they have or will expire this year. You can't light them, throw them in the water or in your household garbage to dispose of them.

Learn about required safety equipment and bring your outdated flares to be properly disposed of for free.

MEC Barrie Paddlefest

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Centennial Beach Park, Lakeshore Drive, Barrie

Meet paddlers, demo anything that floats, and learn skills from the experts. Dive into the world of kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding.

You can go for a test paddle, learn skills at a clinic, browse exhibitor booths, and hunt for deals at the MEC Gear Swap.

Annual RURBAN Food Truck Rally

12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Located at Mill and Victoria streets in downtown Alliston

Live entertainment all afternoon with tributes to Creedence Clearwater Revival and Fleetwood Mac. Classic Car Show n’ Shine, 10 authentic food trucks serving up gourmet treats, and a beer garden, too! Sidewalk sales and our farmers’ market.
