'The best investment you can make is in our youths,' says organizer of event that attracted 15 teams to 3-on-3 hoops tournament at BWG Leisure Centre

Fifteen teams from throughout the region participated in the the third annual Youth Super Saturday 3-on-3 basketball tournament held at the BWG Leisure Centre in Bradford.

“Beside a day of fun and enjoyment this is an opportunity to help build community relationships for our youth through this tournament," said Cheraldean Duhaney, the founder and executive director of the Impact Youth and Culture Centre in Bradford.

"The best investment you can make is in our youths," she said.

This event offered free pizza and face painting. Participants also received free gift cards and donations of free school supplies that had been collected by volunteers or dropped off by other parents to help support local youth.

On the basketball court, players enjoyed warming up as the DJ’s, Bruce and Frye, entertained the crowd with lively music.

Duhaney was able to attract 15 teams from areas such as Bradford, Innisfil, Barrie and as far away as Toronto for Saturday's fun event.

The lunch break was supported by Paulette from Miss Richies Kitchen food truck.

Duhaney sent out special thanks to all the volunteers, fans and local companies that helped to make this a "special community event."
