Three Bradford Bulldogs teams are in a battle for the OMHA Central title

Three Bradford teams are currently battling for standing in the OMHA Central playdowns – the Bradford Bulldogs Novice A, Atom A and Midget A teams.

The Novice A Bulldogs are facing a strong Innisfil Winterhawks squad in their quarter-finals. Game 1 was a 5-0 loss at the Stroud Arena on Feb. 13. Game 2 took place Feb. 16 at the BWG Leisure Centre, and although the Bulldogs fought hard, they were unable to overcome the strong offence and defence mounted by the Winterhawks.

An aggressive Innisfil side took a 1-0 lead in the first period on Saturday, and kept up scoring pressure, adding a second wrap-around goal in the second period.

The Winterhawks were especially solid when it came to penalty killing, but the Bradford squad never gave up, continuing to press even after Innisfil added a third goal on the power play, with 11:29 remaining in the third. Innisfil took the game, 3-0.

Game 3 will be back in Innisfil at the Innisfil Recreation Complex on Feb. 19 at 6 p.m.; Game 4 takes place in Bradford at the BWG Leisure Centre on Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs Atom A team faces the Barrie Colts in their quarter-final match-up. The Bulldogs won their first game, a 3-2 victory in Barrie, but narrowly lost Game 2 at the BWG Leisure Centre on Feb. 17. The Bulldogs went down to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Colts. .Game 3 will take place on Feb. 19 at Barrie’s Holly Recreation Centre at 6 p.m.; Game 4 is at 7 p.m. on Feb. 22, back in Bradford.

Bradford’s Midget A squad is battling the Ajax Knights in OMHA quarter-final action. Game 1 was a 4-0 loss to the Knights in Ajax; but Game 2  on Feb. 17, saw the Bulldogs skate to a solid 4-2 on home ice. Game 3 will be back in Ajax on Feb. 22, Game 4 in Bradford on the 23rd.

Come out and cheer on Bradford’s OMHA hopefuls.
