A celebration of community hockey returned to Bradford West Gwillimbury on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023. The 14th annual Hockey Day in BWG took place in Bond Head at Bud Brown Park.
Age division U7 and U8 teams from the BWG Minor Hockey Association competed against each other in a day of outdoor on-ice fun. Breakfast was served by volunteers from the Bradford Lions. Other activities including indoor hockey themed games and face painting were also on hand.
The celebration continued after lunch at Lions Park in Bradford as a community event open to all. Residents were able to take part in a game of shinny or skate leisurely on a separate rink. Fire pits and heaters were at the ready to keep people warm, while hot dogs, coffee and hot chocolate were provided by the Bradford Lions.
The event was sponsored by Hill Top Dental Centre in Bond Head and Tim Hortons.
