The Town of Georgina is announcing a new date for the Erin Ambrose meet and-greet — Sunday, April 3.

The town is now proclaiming April 3 as Erin Ambrose Day.

Residents and sports enthusiasts alike are invited to attend a special meet-and-greet with the Olympic gold medallist, and Keswick native. Fans will have an opportunity to meet Erin, take photos and get her autograph during this special visit to the Georgina Ice Palace. Residents are also invited to a free public skate in Erin’s honour. Pre-registration is required to skate and can be done at georgina.ca/events.

Anyone who registered for the free skates on Sunday, March 27, is able to use that time for free public skating on that date. In order to participate in the new April 3 date and skate times, you will need to pre-register for the new date and times.

Those attending are encouraged to show their hockey spirit by wearing their favourite hockey jersey, or to dress in red and white in support of our Canadian teams. Fans will line the entryway to the Georgina Ice Palace to give Erin a special hometown welcome before proceeding inside for the special meet-and-greet.

Erin recently captured gold with the Canadian women’s hockey team at the winter Olympics in Beijing. She is a talented athlete with a long history of accomplishments including playing for Team Canada last year at the International Ice Hockey Federation women’s world hockey championship, also capturing gold. More on Erin’s background and accomplishments can be found on Team Canada’s Olympic website.

The first skating session will begin at 1 p.m. with Erin arriving at 2 p.m. for the ceremony and meet-and-greet.

The Georgina Ice Palace is located at 90 Wexford Dr., Keswick.

Several public skate time slots are available between 1 and 4 p.m.

A role model both on and off the ice, the Town of Georgina is proud to welcome Erin home for this special celebration.
