The Bradford Rattlers had a strong game on Sunday against the South Muskoka Shield despite the first line having the night off to combat injuries.

The Rattlers continue the teams new custom with the evening flag bearers, welcoming Aiden Garcia and Adriano DiBartolomeo to the ice completing the pre-game laps of the rink under spotlight, light courtesy of Upsight and Sound in Barrie and flags curtesy of The Flag Store. The Bradford Rattlers recognize the work of Leisure centre staff as well for the weekly work in assisting in the evening activities.

The Rattlers welcomed Maya Bloom to the ice tonight for the singing of O Canada who managed to belt out a beautiful rendition of the song across the rink in spite of the microphone disconnecting, a wonderful job by Maya who will be returning for a future game.

The Shield would start the scoring for the night with a goal by Toms Breikss at 5:10 assisted by Bradeon Mitchell, putting the players on notice that they were there to challenge the Rattlers division status.

However, the Rattlers would quickly retaliate with three rapid fire shots of their own starting off with a short handed goal by Swen Meusy (#12) and assisted by Stepan Leviskiy (#14) at 7:40 and followed by goals by Brayden Uluqsi (#16) at 12:44 and an unassisted goal power play goal by Stepan Leviskiy at 14:47. The Shield wouldn’t take the three goals quietly though, draining the puck in the back net at 15:49 by Aaron Sloan to end the period a 3-2 score in favour of the Rattlers who had 16 shots to the Shield’s 11.

Bradford would dominate the second period in goals and shots on net, spending the majority of the period on the attack in the Shield’s zone. Goals would be scored by Stepan Leviskiy early at 1:30 in to the period with assists by William-Daniel Burns (#22) and Swen Meusy, followed shortly by Jacob Rhodin (#91) at 2:48 with assists by Jesper Eriksson (#8) and Adam Wikowski (#68). The stands would jump to their fee in cheers at 9:38 when Leviskiy drained the puck yet again for a hat trick thanks to assists by William-Daniel Burns and Henrik Wiklund (#26).

The Rattlers would end the second period leading with a score of 6-2 and having 24 shorts against the Shield’s 5.

Third period would see balanced scoring with the Shield not backing down from the Rattlers onslaught. The Rattlers would start the period with goals at 2:30 by Swen Mesuy assisted by Stepan Levitskiy, receiving his six points for the night; followed by a sniper shot by Lukas Roy (#55) that sailed past the goalie at 4:08 with assist by Arvid Malm and Jesper Eriksson.

The Shield would get strike back at 11:41 with a goal by Ty Sadowski (#6), who was on-load to the team for the evening from the Bradford bulls, and assisted by Jacaob Budney. The Shield would receive their final goal at 13:09 by Braedon Mitchell and assisted by Anrijs Bundzeenience and Toms Breikss.

The game would come to a calm final of 8-4 for the Bradford Rattlers who had a total of 53 shots on net to the Shield’s 26.
