Western-themed fundraiser lassos some money for Bradford Bulldogs

Never before has so much denim and plaid been spotted in one place in Bradford West Gwillimbury

Last year, Janice Tee and her team of volunteers helped organize a Halloween party fundraiser for the Bradford Bulldogs’ Minor Atom hockey team.

This year, the fundraiser had a Western theme — and never before has so much denim and plaid gathered in the auditorium of the Bradford and District Memorial Community Centre.

Dressed in cowboy boots, cowboy hats and plaid shirts, party-goers danced to the music provided by a DJ, bid on everything from artwork to sports memorabilia in the silent auction, vied for door prizes, and enjoyed poutine and Tornado Potatoes served up by a food truck.

Every table was named for a Minor Atom player, and their family teams helped make the Oct. 13 event a success.

“We’re hoping to raise funds for the kids this year, for tournaments and extra training,” Tee said.
