A Loon Lake man charged with numerous child luring offences remains in custody after appearing in Saskatoon provincial court Jan. 23.
Steven Joseph Lasas, 26, was charged with possession of child porn, making child porn, two counts of luring a child to facilitate an offence and obtaining for consideration the sexual services of a person under 18.
Lasas was arrested after a concerned grandparent complained to the Saskatoon Police Service that her young grandson was being sexually lured through a popular social media application.
The investigation by the Saskatchewan ICE Unit identified a suspect and his location in Saskatoon.
On Jan. 22 Saskatchewan ICE and Saskatoon Police executed a search warrant where he was temporarily residing and seized his cell phone for further forensic analysis and to identify other possible child victims.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit consists of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service. They investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
Lasas has a show cause hearing on Feb. 11.
