MONTREAL — It didn't take long for former CFL first overall pick Faith Ekakitie to find a new job.

Less than a week after the No. 1 pick from the 2017 draft was cut by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Ekakitie signed with the Montreal Alouettes on Thursday.

A defensive lineman from Brampton, Ont., Ekakitie inked a one-year deal with the Alouettes. He played in 14 games with the Bombers last season, making five defensive tackles.

Ekakitie played his college football at Iowa, helping his team reach the Rose Bowl in 2016.

The Alouettes open their season Saturday night in Vancouver against the B.C. Lions.
