QMJHL roundup: Phoenix edge Armada 3-1 in Game 7 showdown

SHERBROOKE, Que. — The Sherbrooke Phoenix scored a goal in each period and gave up nothing defensively as they defeated the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 3-1 in the seventh and deciding game of their first round Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League playoff series on Tuesday night.

Hugo Primeau, Lewis Gendron and Olivier Dubois scored for the Phoenix, who outshot the Armada 45-25.

Netminder Samuel St-Hilaire stopped 24 of 25 shots for the Phoenix, who had led the series 3-1 before the Armada won back-to-back games to force Game 7.

The Phoenix advance to face the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the quarterfinals. The Volts swept the Saint John Sea Dogs in first round.

Matt Gosselin scored for the Armada. Armada netminder Olivier Ciarlo saved 42 of 44 shots.

The Phoenix went 0-for-6 on the power play, while the Armada went 1-for-3.
