It is with great sadness we announce the death of our remarkable mother Ann Coffey. Born October 25, 1932 - Died May 26 2023 in her 91st year. Daughter of the late Alice Bell and William Flanagan.
Beloved wife of the late Ron Coffey. Beloved sister of Terry Flanagan and sister -in-law Ann Flanagan
late siblings: Isobel Wilder, Sister Peggy Flanagan, Bill Flanagan. Dearest mother of Ken Coffey, Rory Coffey and Peggy King, her two deceased children Mary Jaques and David Coffey forever held in her heart. Daughters-in-law and son-in-law: Diane White, Sue Coffey, Ida Morelli-Coffey, Robert King and the late Edward Jaques. Grandchildren: Jenny Van -Baaren, David Jaques, Emily Coffey, Rebecca Coffey, Mary King, Lawrence King, John Coffey, Meghan Coffey, Ally Coffey, Justin Coffey.
Greatgrandchildren: Darcy Van-Baaren, Harper Van-Baaren, Caleb Coffey. Mom's dear nieces and nephews were all held in mom's thoughts. Debbie Doo!! Mom had a very special 'family' with the McArthur family for her entire life. Sunshine McArthur was like a second mother to mom, and they remained dear friends for all of Sunshine's life. John McArthur, husband to Sunshine and their 3 children Helen, Ian and Rory were so very dear to mom. Mom taught in Bradford until her retirement and is remembered fondly by all her former students. She was a tireless volunteer for many years for the Cancer Society in her area and organized hundreds of rides for patients receiving treatments. She was active all of her life in Bradford, well known for her community service along with our dad.
Her 'Happy Sixties Club', cards, bid euchre, scrabble, music, theatre, CHATS, visiting friends and family, working along side dad, where all part of her busy daily life. Mom and dad's vast network of friends in Bradford brought her joy all of her life in Bradford. Mom spent her final years in Stratford living in comfort at the 'beautiful' McCarthy Place and Greenwood Court.
We are so grateful for her loving care from the entire staff at Greenwood Court; the nurses and PSW's and entire staff at Greenwood are simply incredible. They cared for our mom every step of the way with dignity, love and knowledge of life and of dying. They call themselves TEAM. Mom was held in the hearts and prayers of hundreds of people as she was in her final week.
Mom's family is grateful to Father Donald Pumputis and Father David Butler from St. Joseph's Church in Stratford for mom's spiritual care. After her family was able to say final goodbyes to this remarkable human being, her last peaceful breath on earth was in the arms of her loving daughter Peggy. A final Mother's gift. Mom will be buried with her beloved Ronnie in a family ceremony followed by a ‘celebration of life' later this summer. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Greenwood Court or to Covenant House in Toronto for homeless youth in memory of mom through W. G. Young Funeral Home www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
Thank you to W. G. Young Funeral Home in Stratford.
