It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Mary Joan Saint. Mom passed away on November 7th, 2023, peacefully at her home after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.

Beloved wife of late Richard Gerald Saint. Loving mother of Sharon, Joan (Henry), Nancy, Margaret (Todd). Mom was blessed with two grandchildren Cole and Carley Chapman, and two grand-dogs Bella and Lily. Mom was in her 86th year, she was born on February 4th, 1938, in Teston, Ontario, to Muriel Gertrude Weldrick and Hugh Mills O’Brien.

Mom came to Bradford in 1956 to work for Bell Canada switchboard and she boarded at the Saint Family Home. This is where she met and married her husband. This is where they made their home for their family.

Dear sister of late Gordon O’Brien, Doreen Adams,  late Bill O’Brien (late Diane O’Brien), Betty Shaw (late Charles Shaw), Kenneth O’Brien (Donna), late Margaret Ingham (Ron Ingham). Mom leaves behind many nieces and nephew, as well as many great nieces and nephews. There was not a day gone by where mom did not acknowledge her four children and two grandchildren.

While we are sad, she is no longer with us, we are relieved to know she is finally at peace and reunited with Dad. Mom’s wish was for a private family burial, that has already taken place.

If you would like to make a donation, mom has chosen two charities or a charity of your choice. Saint Elizabeth Foundation https://foundation.sehc.com/donate or Stronach Cancer Centre Newmarket https://southlake.ca/foundation/about /donate/

The family would like to take this opportunity to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of St. Elizabeth for the care they have provided to our mother. Special thanks to Nurse Judith Garcia and her team for their help and emotional support. We could not have done this without her. Special thanks to Dr. Cindy So and her staff at Stronach Cancer Center for all their help and support during this tough battle. Also special thanks to May Bowles for bringing a weekly bouquet of your garden roses to mom. Mom really loved looking at them and always amazed at how long they lasted.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior from 10-11 a.m.
