TORONTO — A funeral is set for a Toronto police officer who died in the line of duty last week.

Toronto police say a visitation for Const. Jeffrey Northrup will take place Sunday and a funeral will follow on Monday.

Investigators have said Northrup was killed in a deliberate act last week while responding to a report of a robbery in a parking lot at Toronto City Hall.

A 31-year-old man was charged with first-degree murder Friday.

Police say the funeral will take place at BMO Field at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast live on television and online.

Northrup had returned to the major crimes unit in April after spending time training officers.
