2 taken to hospital after vehicle hits hydro pole, fire hydrant

The South Simcoe Police Service is appealing for the public's assistance following a single-vehicle collision in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

On Monday, Oct. 9, 2023 at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a collision on Holland Street West and Church Street where a blue BMW struck a hydro pole, a fire hydrant, and crashed into multiple parked cars.

Upon police arrival, the two occupants of the BMW were outside the vehicle. The 18-year-old woman and 19-year-old man, both from Newmarket, were subsequently transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Holland Street was closed in both directions for over four hours while crews attended to the downed wires, the damaged pole and fire hydrant. The road has since reopened.

No charges have been laid at this time and the investigation into the collision is ongoing.
