4 drivers face impaired charges in unrelated incidents

In one occurrence, police were called regarding a driver sleeping behind the wheel in traffic

The South Simcoe Police Service laid impaired driving charges following four separate collisions over the weekend. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

On Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022 at approximately 7:54 a.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a call regarding a vehicle in a ditch in the area of Sideroad 5 and County Road 88 in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. As a result of an investigation, 40-year-old Tyler Kindree of Tiny Township was charged with operation while impaired.

On Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022 at approximately 3:50 a.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a call for a man sleeping in his vehicle in a live lane of traffic in the area of Bridge Street and Marshview Boulevard in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. When officers arrived and blocked in the vehicle in order to wake the driver safely, the driver took his foot off the brake and rolled into the police car, causing very minor damage. As a result of an investigation, 22-year-old Mohamed Shaheed of Bradford was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol.

On Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022 at approximately 3:10 a.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a call for a vehicle that struck a street sign in the area of Langford Boulevard and Blue Dasher Boulevard in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. As a result of an investigation, 25-year-old Joel Prasad of Bradford was charged with operation while impaired.

On Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022 at approximately 12:30 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer located a single vehicle collision in the area of Searay Drive and Riva Boulevard in the Town of Innisfil. The vehicle had collided with the centre median. As a result of an investigation, a 23-year-old Barrie resident was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol, drug possession, and fail to remain.
