7 suspects arrested following shooting at Thornhill hotel

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have arrested seven people in connection with a shooting that occurred in the City of Vaughan.

On Aug. 10, 2022, at 11:20 p.m., officers responded to a hotel in the area of Yonge Street and Meadowview Avenue (in Thornhill) for a report of a fight. When police arrived on scene, they learned that a male victim had been injured with a gunshot wound and made his own way to hospital, on his own, suffering from a non-life-threatening injury, prior to police arriving.

Through the investigation, on Aug. 11, officers located two vehicles, a silver Honda Civic and a dark blue Dodge Charger, along with seven suspects believed connected with the shooting, in the area of the hotel.

The shooting is believed to have been a targeted incident and there is no concern for public safety. The suspects have been arrested, however charges have yet to be laid as the investigation continues.

Officers are appealing to any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time who have not yet spoken to police to please come forward. Investigators are also seeking any video surveillance from the area or anyone that may have captured dashcam video on the roadways.
