Provincial police say a 69-year-old Alliston woman has died in hospital following a weekend house fire.

Emergency crews responded to the Albert Street blaze on Sunday around 7:20 p.m., including Nottawasaga OPP, New Tecumseth firefighters and Simcoe County paramedics.

Upon arrival, first-responders found the home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters rescued one woman from the residence. She was assessed on scene by paramedics and transported to a local hospital. She was later airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre.

On Tuesday, police said the woman had succumbed to her injuries.

The victim has been identified as Nancy Stevens, 69, of Alliston.

The Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating and the blaze has been deemed non-suspicious.

The investigation continues.
