Assault investigation nets 21 charges for Bradford man

A local man is facing 21 charges after South Simcoe police responded to an assault call in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

On Friday, Dec. 8, 2023 at approximately 11:58 p.m., police were dispatched to a home in the area of Line 8 and Yonge Street regarding an alleged assault.

A male victim reported he had been assaulted by the suspect.

Upon officers' arrival, police say the suspect had left the scene and returned to his house nearby. He was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old Demetrey Oksanesh of Bradford was charged with 21 offences, including assault, uttering threats, criminal harassment, multiple counts of failure to comply with a judicial release order, and multiple counts of probation order non-compliance.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
