Bradford man charged with sexually assaulting minors

Police say offences were committed in 2023, but they believe there might be more victims

A Bradford West Gwillimbury man has been charged with sexual offences against minors, and police believe there might be more victims.

In March 2023, a 16-year-old girl had communicated with the 19-year-old suspect on social media, York Regional Police said in a news release.

In June of that year, the girl met with the suspect, who posed as a 17-year-old and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

On Feb. 5, 2024, the suspect was charged with sexual assault.

Police also allege that in October 2023, a 13-year-old girl met the suspect at a party, where he posed as a 16-year-old. He met with the victim at a later date and sexually assaulted her, police said.

Police learned the suspect had been visiting high schools in Newmarket, where he approached students.

Janarthan Sivaranjan, 20, has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching.
