INNISFIL -  On Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, South Simcoe Police Service officers were conducting a Festive RIDE Spot Check at the intersection of 20 Sideroad and Killarney Beach Road in Innisfil.

A vehicle was observed eastbound on Killarney Beach Road, pull to the side and u-turn around in the opposite direction away from the RIDE program. Officers caught up to the vehicle westbound and stopped it. The driver was spoken to by officers and an odour of alcohol was detected.

A caution was registered on a roadside screening device.

As a result, a 68-year-old Bradford man was given a three-day warn range suspension. A sober passenger drove the vehicle from the scene.

You can u-turn but you can't hide from RIDE.  We are continuing our enhanced Festive RIDE programs and will be anywhere at any time with random spot checks.  Stay on our 'nice" list and out of our cells. Don't drink and drive or drive under the influence of drugs.  Make safe choices for everyone's sake.

On Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 96 calls for service.
