Call from concerned citizen leads to impaired charges

Police located the vehicle and lone driver on Highway 89; A 58-year-old is facing charges

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ADJALA-TOSORONTIO & ESSA TOWNSHIPS —  Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested one person after driving concerns.

On June 25, 2022, at approximately 9:49 p.m., police received a call regarding a single vehicle traffic complaint. The vehicle was observed on County Road 21, Essa Township and then continued onto Highway 89.

Police arrived on scene and located the vehicle and driver who was the only occupant.

As a result of the investigation, 58-year-old Colin Macdonald, of Adjala-Tosorontio has been arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver's licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on July 21, 2022

Police are looking to speak with any witnesses that may have been in the area at the time of the incident.
