Citizen call helps nab suspected impaired driver

On Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, around 1 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in a parking lot on Holland Street West in Bradford.

Police arrived and located the vehicle parked and the driver exhibiting signs of impairment. As a result of investigation, 31-year-old William Cotter of Holland Landing was charged with drug-impaired driving, drug possession (suspected cocaine), driving while prohibited and two counts of failing to comply with release conditions.  

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a court date in March.

Once again we want to express our gratitude to the citizen who reported a suspected impaired driver.  Impaired drivers are not only a danger to themselves but a danger to innocent pedestrians and motorists.  Thank you for helping us keep our communities safe. Impaired is impaired whether by alcohol or drugs.
