Concerned citizen call leads to impaired charge

The 49-year-old faces multiple charges as a result

On Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver that had exited Highway 400 at County Road 88 in Bradford. Officers attended an address in the Holland Street West and Langford Boulevard area and made an arrest.

As a result of the investigation, 49-year-old Paulo Avelar of Bradford was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired, and
  • Operation while impaired - Excess blood alcohol.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.  He was released with a future court date.
