On the 19th of May 2023 at 9:53 p.m., South Simcoe Police received a report of a traffic light being knocked down as a result of a collision.

When officers arrived on scene they discovered a 2004 Infinity SUV on Holland Street West which had left the travelled portion on the roadway, mounted the centre median and struck a traffic light post.

The lone occupant and driver, a 30-year-old Holland Landing male, was identified. The male party was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by the Ontario Provincial Police. The male was arrested on the warrant. During the investigation the driver failed a road side screening device as well. As a result, the male was transported to the police station for further tests.

As a result the driver was charged with the following offences:
    •    Impaired operation - alcohol and drugs s.320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code
    •    Impaired operation - blood alcohol concentration s.320(1)(b) Criminal Code

His vehicle was impounded for seven days and his licence suspended for 90 days under the Province of Ontario’s administrative drivers licence suspension program. The male party will appear in Bradford court in June.
