A Barrie man has been charged after city police responded to a disturbance at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) on Monday.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., Barrie police received a report of a “disruptive” man at RVH.

Hospital security had been called to the food court, where police say a man was yelling at others in the area.

“His behaviour began to change, and he was becoming more aggressive,” police said in a news release Tuesday.

Security removed the man, but police say he tried to re-enter. He was then arrested for failing to leave the premises when directed, contrary to the Trespass to Property Act.

When police officers arrived, they removed the man from the property, took him to a shelter and issued him a ticket under the Trespass to Property Act.

The 50-year-old man was also issued a trespass notice and has been banned from returning to RVH for one year, unless he needs medical attention.
