Barrie police say a driver was transported to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash on Mapleview Drive East at Goodwin Drive in the city's south end, Monday afternoon.

The driver has been charged after police say an out-of-control car collided with signs, a pole and trees in Barrie's south end Monday.

Shortly before 1 p.m. on March 25, Barrie police responded to a single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Mapleview Drive East and Goodwin Drive.

From the investigation that followed, police say the eastbound vehicle crossed into the westbound lane, struck the curb, a hydro pole, a stand of trees, some traffic signs and then rolled before coming to rest.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

He was later charged with careless driving.

Traffic in the area was impacted while the police investigation took place, with subsequent cleanup and repairs made to some of the damaged infrastructure.
