Driver charged after vehicle rams truck, flips on its roof

Woman, 56, charged with careless driving; Barrie police say alcohol was not a factor in the Thursday night crash

A 56-year-old woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a vehicle rollover on Donald Street in central Barrie, Thursday night.

“We had a motor vehicle that struck a parked pickup truck that had a snow plow on it. The vehicle flipped and landed on its roof,” said Peter Leon, communications co-ordinator for Barrie police.

The woman has been charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

Leon said alcohol was not a factor and no other injuries were sustained as a result of the crash, which happened around 9 p.m.

“We had to close the road for a short period of time just because of the rollover and to allow the tow truck to get the vehicle safely back on all four tires," he added, "but it was just a short-lived closure.”
