Driver charged with impaired after pickup with plow hits ditch: Police

INNISFIL - On Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 around 11:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a suspected impaired driver call in Innisfil.

Police were told that a pickup truck with a snow plow on the front had gone into a ditch on Yonge Street just south of Innisfil Beach Road. When officers arrived, they located the pickup truck in a driveway and spoke to the driver. An odour of alcohol was detected along with other signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to North Division where breath tests resulted in readings well over the legal limit.

Sixty-one-year-old Steven Thompson of Innisfil was charged with operation while impaired and over 80. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
