Driver charged with impaired following hit-and-run in Innisfil

Accused was also issued a provincial offence notice for having cannabis readily available

INNISFIL - A 31-year-old woman was charged with impaired driving, dangerous operation, and fail to remain after police were called to a hit and run collision in Innisfil.

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020 around 8:40 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a call from a citizen reporting that his parked vehicle was hit by another vehicle that drove away in the 7th Line and St. Johns Road area. The victim followed the suspect vehicle to a nearby address.

When police arrived on scene, the driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested for impaired operation after a fail was registered on roadside screening device test. She was transported to North Division where breath tests were conducted.

As a result of the investigation, 31-year-old Nykyta Gatrell-Moore of Innisfil was charged with operation while impaired, over 80, dangerous operation, and failure to stop after accident. She was also issued a provincial offence notice for having cannabis readily available.

Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle impounded for seven days. She was released with a future court date.
