Erratic driving results in impaired, dangerous driving charges for Innisfil man

INNISFIL - A 32-year-old Innisfil man was charged with impaired and dangerous driving after citizens reported a vehicle driving erratically and without headlights on in Innisfil.  

On Friday, Dec. 27, 2019 around 7:00 p.m., police located the vehicle in the Yonge Street and Victoria Street area of Stroud. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to South Division where breath tests resulted in readings of well over twice the legal limit.  

As a result, a 32-year-old Innisfil man was charged with impaired driving, over 80 and dangerous driving. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.  The accused was released with a court date in January.

New Year's Eve is tomorrow night.  We strongly urge you to plan ahead so you don't wind up behind the wheel impaired, endangering yourself and others. If you intend to party, take a taxi, an Uber, public transit or stay over. As you can see by this occurrence, our patrols and RIDE programs are enhanced by YOU, our engaged residents who work with us to keep our roads safe. Thank you to these citizens and everyone who called us in 2019 to report suspected impaired drivers.
