Four people have been charged and two stolen vehicles have been recovered following a carjacking Tuesday in Markham.

The carjacking occurred at 5 p.m. on Highway 407 West at Woodbine Avenue, York Regional Police said in a news release. A man went to a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Markham, saying he wanted to take a test drive. He provided what looked like a valid driver’s licence and went for a test drive with the victim in a Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV.

While on Highway 407, the suspect started to pull over while telling the victim to get out. He told the victim a second suspect in a Range Rover was behind them and that he did not want the victim to get hurt. When the vehicle was stopped, the suspect pushed the victim out and both vehicles were driven away from the scene, York Regional Police said in a news release.

The victim was not physically injured.

The stolen Mercedes-Benz was tracked to an underground parking lot in the area of Weston Road and Highway 7 in Vaughan, where the Range Rover, which was also determined to have been stolen, was also located. Police arrested four people.

At the time of the arrests, one suspect was already before the courts on unrelated charges and was subject to three release orders, including a probation order from a court in Quebec, police said. The same person was also wanted in Quebec for fraud and breach of probation. A second suspect was subject to a firearms prohibition.

Sean Letellier, 19, of Shelburne, has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000 and one count of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Yassine Jenkal, 23, of Toronto, has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime not exceeding $5,000 and and one count of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
