Impaired charges laid in Bradford over the weekend

A 38-year-old Bradford man had his licence suspended for 90 days after being charged with impaired driving.

On Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, around 11 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer observed a vehicle travelling erratically and at a high rate of speed on Bridge Street in Bradford. 

A vehicle stop was conducted and the driver was arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to South Division where breath tests results in readings of well over the legal limit of alcohol. 

As a result, a 38-year-old Bradford man was charged with Over 90, Impaired Operation and Drive Suspended. He was also charged with Open Liquor and Cannabis Readily Available.  His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

A 42-year-old Bradford man was charged with Over 80 after police investigated a man sleeping in a vehicle.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, around 2:30 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer patrolling Holland Street West noticed a running vehicle parked in the back of a parking lot. The vehicle appeared to be unoccupied. 

Upon closer investigation, the officer located a man who appeared to be sleeping in the reclined driver's side seat. An odour of alcohol was detected and a Fail was registered on a roadside screening device test. The man was transported to South Division where further testing resulted in readings of more than twice the legal limit.

As a result of investigation, a 42-year-old Bradford man was charged with Over 80 and Open Liquor. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, around 6:30 p.m., a woman reported to South Simcoe Police Service that she had been assaulted by her common-law spouse. As a result of investigation, a 32-year-old Bradford man was located in a parking lot on Holland Street West where he was arrested for Domestic Assault and Over 80.

He was transported to South Division where breath tests resulted in readings of over the legal limit. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a court date in December.

The victim did not require medical assistance for her injuries. Police reviewed safety planning and provided her with support from Victim Services.
