On Thursday, June 9, at approximately 6 p.m., police responded to a citizen-initiated driving complaint in the area of Innisfil Beach Road and Yonge Street in Innisfil.

The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested. As a result of the investigation, 31-year-old Peter Sypien of Innisfil was charged with operation while impaired by drug. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Crashes involving alcohol and/or drugs are a leading criminal cause of death in Canada. Even one drink of alcohol can reduce your reaction time, blur or double your vision, impair your reflexes, and alter your attention span. Make the right choice for public safety and always drive sober. There’s no excuse.
