York Regional Police is helping potential policing candidates kick off their careers and Asian Heritage Month 2023 with a special recruitment event taking place on April 29.
Members of the Uniform Recruiting Unit and the York Regional Police East-Southeast Asian Internal Support Network will host the day-long event at the Eric Jolliffe Training Centre for Leadership and Learning, located at 70 Bales Dr. E. in East Gwillimbury.
Attendees will have the opportunity to network with York Regional Police members from across the organization, including many of East and Southeast Asian heritage.
The event will also include guest speakers, an information session and live demonstrations by members of the Support Services Bureau, including the Emergency Response and Canine Units. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Continental breakfast, snacks and lunch will be provided.
Earlier this year, York Regional Police launched a new recruitment marketing campaign to attract the next generation of police officers, special constables and civilian professionals to join our ranks.
The People First campaign encourages candidates, who benefit from diverse skillsets, interests and backgrounds, to apply as we strive to reflect the community we serve. The campaign highlights the unique personal abilities and interests of our members that make them ideal people to serve the public in the York Region.
In 2023, York Regional Police aims to recruit roughly 100 new officers to join the police service, along with many staff who will support police operations.
