Loaded hand gun among items seized in drug search

Four face numerous serious charges

INNISFIL - A drug investigation in Innisfil has led to the arrest of four people, the seizure of a large amount of drugs and a loaded handgun.

On July 5, 2018 at 5 a.m., the South Simcoe Police Service Street Crime Unit with the assistance of the South Simcoe Police Emergency Response Unit and the York Regional Police Emergency Response Unit executed a drug search warrant on a rural property in south Innisfil.

Police recently began an investigation which led to a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant. The Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of tactical teams and York Regional Police Service K-9, searched a residence and outbuildings on the property.

Officers seized a loaded 9mm handgun, ammunition and bulk quantities of drugs including crack cocaine and heroin.

Four people were arrested and charged:
  1. 25-year-old Brampton man
  2. 24-year-old Mississauga woman
  3. 47-year-old Innisfil man
  4. 48-year-old Innisifl man

They are jointly charged with drug and firearm-related charges including:

  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of Heroin, Cocaine and Other Drugs
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking

The four accused are appearing in bail court in Barrie on Friday, July 6, 2018.

This investigation is part of South Simcoe Police Service's ongoing efforts to protect our citizens by fighting the scourge of drugs and guns. The Street Crime Unit's mandate includes illegal drug activity as a top priority.

With the help of our policing partners, our officers successfully and safely executed a search warrant that resulted in a large amount of drugs and a loaded firearm being taken off the streets.
