Local driver charged with impaired following weekend crash

A 31-year-old from Bradford was charged after a two-vehicle crash on Holland Street West that sent two people to hospital with minor injuries

South Simcoe Police charged three drivers with impaired driving over the weekend.

On Saturday at approximately 9:50 a.m., officers with the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a two-vehicle crash locally in the area of Holland Street West and Miller Park Avenue.

Two people from one of the vehicles involved were taken to hospital with minor injuries while the driver of the other vehicle was arrested.

Adhair Mejia Velazquez, 31, of Bradford was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired - excess blood alcohol, and dangerous operation.

On Sunday at approximately 10 a.m., police received a report of a potentially impaired driver in the area of 10th Line and 25th Sideroad in Innisfil.

Police located the vehicle and arrested the driver.

As a result, Daniel Runge, 62, was charged with operation while impaired by drug.

On Friday at approximately 6:30 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Innisfil Beach Road and Sideroad 5 in Innisfil.

There were no injuries as a result of the crash, but Nishitkumar Gamadia, 29, of Brampton was charged with operation while impaired, careless driving, drive motor vehicle liquor readily available, having care or control of a motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor, drive motor vehicle no current validated permit and obstruct plate.  

All three drivers had their licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 14 days.
