Man charged with impaired after fleeing from collision

SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE

On the 24th of May 2023 at roughly 8:15 a.m., South Simcoe Police received a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Bond Head operating a Dodge Caravan. Shortly thereafter an additional call was received reporting that a grey Dodge Caravan had just been involved in a collision on Simcoe County Road 88 at Kings Highway 400 and left the scene.  

Officers flooded the area and located the vehicle being operated in Bradford on Holland Street. Police observed the vehicle jump a curb and park diagonally in a parking space. Police spoke with the driver and subsequently arrested the operator for impaired operation. The driver was transported to the South Division for breath testing.

As a result of the police investigation the accused, a 49-year-old Keswick man, was charged with:
    •    Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs as per section 320.14 (1)(A) of the Criminal Code
    •    Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration as per section 320.14 (1)(B) of the Criminal Code
    •    Failure to stop after accident as per section 320.16(1) of the Criminal Code
