Ontario Provincial Police laid 1,472 impaired driving charges during the annual Festive RIDE campaign.

The 47-day campaign ran from Nov. 16 to Jan. 2. During that time, police stopped 42,464 drivers at 11,421 RIDE checks, “where officers made full use of their expertise and sophisticated tools to detect and investigate impairment in drivers,” police said in a news release.

Police also issued 220 warn-range and 17 zero-tolerance suspensions.

While the Festive RIDE campaign has wrapped up, RIDE checks take place throughout the year.
