Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), have recently been actively patrolling snowmobile trails to conduct an enforcement and education initiative. Members are aiming to raise awareness regarding snowmobile safety on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) trails.

While maintaining visibility on the trails, members welcomed the opportunity to speak with numerous snowmobilers, providing public safety education and encouraging safe operation throughout the snowmobiling season. Officers have generally been pleased that the majority of riders are in compliance with the laws. The OPP would like to remind riders to stick to the trails unless you have permission to ride on private property and remember to dress according to weather conditions.

The OPP encourages snowmobilers to adhere to OFSC trails, which are an excellent trail system that offers the safest areas to ride on. The OFSC provides a snowmobile trail network that covers more than 30,000 kilometres throughout Ontario's snow-belt. For more information about the OFSC and up-to-date information on trail conditions, visit: Snowmobiling Ontario (ofsc.on.ca) . Check for trail status updates on the OFSC Interactive Trail Guide when planning your ride.

Enjoy the trails and stay safe. make every ride a safe one so that you can enjoy the world-class snowmobiling Ontario has to offer and, more importantly, so that you can get home safely to your family.
