OPP probing vandalism to more than 40 cars in Alliston

OPP say that over the course of an hour Saturday night, the cars sustained deep scratch marks; Police are looking for security camera footage

Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking the public's assistance with numerous mischief complaints in Alliston. Do you have home security footage that could help?

On Sunday, August 22, 2021 at approximately 8 a.m., police began receiving numerous mischief calls. All calls reported similar incidents of damage to vehicles.

The incidents occurred overnight during the approximate time frame of Saturday, Aug. 21 at 11:30 p.m. to Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021 12:20 a.m.

A total of 41 vehicles have been reported to have deep scratch marks; with the majority around the entire vehicle.

The area of the investigation includes a number of streets around James A. McCague Avenue; below are some of the streets but not limited to:

  • Dowling Road
  • Hutchinson Drive
  • Willis Drive
  • Hussey Street
  • Burt Avenue
  • Irwin Crescent
