For the second time in a little over two weeks, a pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Barrie.

City police were called to the crash scene on Georgian Drive, west of Gallie Court, at 11:44 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4.

From the investigation that followed, police determined an eastbound vehicle struck a 41-year-old Barrie man.

The man was transported to the nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time after arrival, according to police.

The Barrie police traffic unit is investigating and there has been no word on any charges.

Anyone who may have dash-cam video, who may have witnessed the collision or who may have seen a man in the area prior to the crash occurring is asked to contact the investigating officer at [email protected].

Last month, a 46-year-old man was struck by a vehicle on Dunlop Street West. The crash happened on Dec. 22 and he died in hospital the following day, city police confirmed. The victim's dog also died in the collision.

Police say the man was crossing the street, just west of Anne Street, when the collision occurred around 9 p.m. The driver of the vehicle remained on-scene and no charges were laid. The man was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.

Five days later, on Dec. 27, another pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at Duckworth Street and Grove Street East.

In that incident, police say a 33-year-old man was taken to a local hospital. No other information has been released.
