Barrie Police Service is asking for the public’s help after officers responded to a report of a mischief that had taken place recently at a residence located on Black Willow Drive in the southwest end of the city.

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023.

Surveillance video released by police show two unknown males damaging two cars that were parked in the driveway. They also spray-painted the garage, then poured gasoline onto the driveway between the parked cars.

“An attempt was made to ignite the gasoline prior to their leaving, but the suspects were unsuccessful,” police stated in the release.

“The investigation is still ongoing,” Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday in an update on Friday. “We’ve made an appeal for people to reach out to Crime Stoppers, so if people think about it over the weekend, they can give them a call if they don’t want to talk to us.”

If anyone has information in regards to this case, email the investigating officer, Const. Forrest, at [email protected]. If you wish to remain anonymous, please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestopperssdm.com.
