Police investigating death in Adjala-Tosorontio

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ADJALA-TOSORONTIO AND ESSA TOWNSHIPS - Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Major Crime Unit are investigating a suspicious death in Adjala-Tosorontio Township.

On Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, at approximately 9 a.m., members of the Nottawasaga OPP were called to an address on Concession Road 3 in Adjala-Tosorontio for a report of an unresponsive person.

Police arrived on scene and located one person outside of a residence, who was pronounced deceased.

The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Gordon Banks of Adjala-Tosorontio.

The Nottawasaga Major Crime Unit would like to ensure the public that there is no concern for public safety.

The Nottawasaga Major Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) with assistance from Central Region Regional Support Team, Central Region Emergency Response Team, Central Region Forensic Identification Services and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.

Investigators are looking to speak with any witnesses that may have been in the area at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Nottawasaga OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
