NEWS RELEASE
SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE SERVICE
**************************
South Simcoe Police Service officers are appealing for witnesses or security camera video following a daytime break and enter in Bradford.

A home located in the Langford Boulevard and Miller Park Avenue area was entered sometime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019. A quantity of cash and valuables was stolen.

Investigators are asking residents in the area to check their surveillance systems and call police with any information. If you can help contact Det. Constable Andrew Bowen at 905-775-3311 extension 1036, email [email protected] or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).

You can take an active role in making your home less likely to be targeted by thieves.

Follow these tips to secure your home and help us prevent crime:

  • Install a good deadbolt lock
  • Chain locks are an inadequate security measure. Instead install a wide angle peep-hole so you do not have to open the door to see the person. If you have children consider including a second peep-hole at a child’s height
  • All hinges should be accessible from the interior of the home only
  • Ensure your door is equipped with non-removable hinge pins Most doors are installed with screws less than 1″ in length. This results in a door that appears secure but is relatively weak and prone to being kicked in.
  • Door kick break-ins are common, so door screws should be at least 2 ½ to 3 ½ inches long
  • Lock your garage at all times
  • Keep a record of serial numbers and descriptions of your household possessions
