The South Simcoe Police Service is advising the public of a joint training exercise in Lake Simcoe on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021.

The training exercise will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Cooks Bay in Innisfil and will involve several civilian aircraft and at least one drone. The purpose of the training is to assist with search and rescue operations between civilian fixed wing aircraft, Department of National Defence Search and Rescue and local authorities.

The operation may involve searchers looking for a variety of items in Cooks Bay. The items will be clearly marked as training aids. We are asking members of the public to stay clear of the operation and not to remove any of the labelled items from the water.

The participating agencies are the South Simcoe Police Service, York Regional Police, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) and 424 Transport and Rescue Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
