Three motorists were charged with stunt driving-related offences on South Simcoe police-patrolled roads over a two-day span earlier this week.
On Tuesday, Jan. 31, an officer conducting speed enforcement on Sideroad 5 in Bradford stopped a vehicle allegedly travelling 128 kilometres per hour in a posted 70 km/h zone. As a result, a 26-year-old Barrie man was charged, police said in a media release.
Also that day, an officer stopped a vehicle apparently going 145 km/h in an 80 zone on the 6th Line in Innisfil. A 50-year-old Innisfil man was charged.
Then the following day, an officer conducting speed enforcement on Canal Road in Bradford stopped a vehicle that had allegedly travelled 92 km/h in a posted 50 zone. A 41-year-old woman from Bradford was charged, police said.
All three drivers immediately faced 30-day licence suspensions, while their vehicles were impounded for 14 days.
A driver convicted of stunt driving loses six demerit points. They may face fines ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 and jail time of up to six months, and lose their licence for a minimum of one year. They could also be required to complete a driver improvement course before the licence is reinstated, police say.
