NEWS RELEASE
SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE SERVICE
*************************
The Government of Ontario has announced new restrictions in an effort to address the rising case counts of COVID-19, including enhanced enforcement measures for police officers under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA).

The South Simcoe Police Service will review the new regulations once the details are provided to us, and will continue to do our part in enforcing the stay at home orders to help keep our communities safe and support our local health department.

Until we have a full understanding of the new Regulations, we will continue to use discretion in our day to day interactions with members of the public and will not be conducting random vehicle or person stops. Our initiatives will for the most part be complaint driven, with the goal of gaining compliance, and those that refuse to comply will receive the appropriate penalty.

With the health care system at critical capacity, and people dying every day, the South Simcoe Police Service urges residents to do their part and take personal responsibility to follow the restrictions to limit the spread of this deadly virus.
